As of early 2025 the ETC will be hosted within the KonText interface of the Czech National Corpus and will be available to the wide public.
Negotiations have now been made with a number of foreign universities (Poland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Taiwan, Ukraine) who will be joining the project, each supplying recordings and transcriptions of 50 local English teachers following the same design and task structure of the original corpus. The ETC will thus become The International English Teacher Corpus. Finally, further plans are in progress to extend the corpus by non-native speaker teachers of other foreign languages (e.g. Czech teachers of French, Polish teachers of German etc.). The aim is to create an extensive corpus of L2 teacher language, which will probably be called The International Corpus of Teacher Language. Given the dual focus of the corpus as described above, the corpus will offer date for both linguistic and qualitative, content-based analyses.
